Since its inception in 2015, Make48 has continued to expand exponentially, in tandem with the global maker movement. Make48 expanded its reach with a successful round of City Regional events in 2022 including; Wichita, Milwaukee, Madison, Indianapolis, North Little Rock, Beloit and Kansas City, KS. After proving a significant demand and capacity for the Make48 competition television programming, the company announced a new initiative which will allow Make48 to bridge its initiatives into High School and College audiences. Leveraging its connections and experience, Make48 will bring education and innovation to national media through the well-proven bracket-style model of collegiate tournaments in 2024.
Make48 is a nationwide invention-competition docuseries, distributed and aired in partnership with This Old House Makers Channel (Roku), that gives teams a challenge at the start of a two-day event. With just 48 hours, teams must create a prototype, promotional video, sales sheet, and present their idea to a panel of judges. The teams have access to a makerspace and numerous Tool Techs (that can make almost anything), patent attorneys, marketing experts, and more. This format allows everyone to have a level playing field and the chance to win, with no prior technical knowledge necessary.
