Local High Schools will go head to head at the STEM Center for this special Make48 competition!
Make48 is a 48-hour innovative invention competition where teams from various schools are presented a challenge and tasked to build a physical prototype, create a sales sheet, produce a 1-minute marketing video, and pitch their big idea to a panel of judges.
In September 2024, the Milwaukee School of Engineering's We Energies STEM Center will host teams of students from various high schools for a Make48 competition. With access to expert tool technicians and high-tech equipment, competing teams will have the power to build almost anything to meet the presented challenge.
For this challenge, collaboration is the key to success. Many people have big ideas, but few possess the resources to develop a prototype that turns them into reality. To build anything, different skills, materials and equipment must work together to create a final product. Make48 allows this process to be achieved with a fun, fast-paced, and educational event. First place team wins $2000 and goes on to compete at the Nationals competition in November 2024.
Every year, thousands of K–12 students visit MSOE to take part in a variety of programs and competitions designed to foster and continue students’ excitement for the STEM fields. Specialized programming provides opportunities for elementary, middle and high school students to explore STEM through exciting, hands-on activities. Whether it’s an elementary student learning the basics, a middle school student exploring new ideas, or a high school student thinking about careers or a future at MSOE, there’s something for everyone. MSOE offers afterschool programs, week-long residential and non-residential summer camps, group activities, competitions, seminars and more to get students excited about STEM early on.

We're thrilled they are hosting a Make48 at this innovative location!
