Lorri Barnett, Regional Statewide Director at Purdue Polytechnic Anderson, helped strategize the execution of the upcoming Purdue Poly-Make48 event. “This event has already created such excitement for the region, that we were able to secure eight high school teams months in advance. We also have a waiting list of teams wanting to participate. Make48 will allow us to engage high school and college students in collaborations around human centered design thinking, which is a foundational course requirement for all our Polytechnic students.”
Six to eight teams from the surrounding high schools in the region will participate in this unique maker-competition, which helps participants discover what is possible in just 48 hours. Make48 seeks to empower people to learn the process of creation, emphasizing collaboration as the core instrument to success. Teams are supplied tool technicians, who can build just about anything, and a Makerspace with the latest technologies and equipment to help create anything they can think of to solve the challenge. The winning team will walk away with $2k, a custom-made trophy and advance to compete at the national competition, slated for November 2023, where one team can win $10k.
