SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR RURAL KANSAS AND MISSOURI
Through this grant, eligible schools across Kansas and western Missouri can bring the Make48 Innovation Experience to their classrooms at no cost for the Standard Tier program for up to 40 schools. The grant expands access to hands-on learning that helps students develop creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving skills.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
Standard Tier - Fully Funded
The grant covers the full cost of the Standard Tier, which includes:

Online teacher training (no travel required)
-
Classroom implementation guides and curriculum access
-
Challenge materials and templates
-
Support from the Make48 Education Team throughout the semester
-
Eligibility for classroom teams to compete on the Make48 television series.
ENHANCED TIER OPTION
Local Business Upgrade
Some schools choose to expand their classroom experience through a local business sponsor. This Enhanced Tier includes everything in the Standard program plus:

A locally designed challenge created with an industry partner
-
Structured engagement between students and professionals
-
Prizes for the winning team
Schools interested in this option can:

Work directly with a local business or organization to fund the upgrade, or
-
Ask Make48 for a short overview to share with potential sponsors
All Enhanced Tier upgrades must be supported by a business or organization within your school’s network.
WHO'S ELIGIBLE?
Schools located within The Patterson Family Foundation’s catchment area (see map below) are eligible for the fully funded Standard Tier.
Priority will be given to schools that:

Serve middle school, high school, or early college students (ages 12–22)

Have a teacher ready to lead the semester-long Innovation Experience
-
Can form at least four student teams (12 or more students)

Are exploring ways to continue the program beyond the first year through school, district, or community support





OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT FUNDING THROUGH RTF
The Rural Tech Fund helps rural students discover and pursue careers in technology. Teachers in Kansas and Missouri can apply for grants to fund equipment that exposes students to computer science, including equipment for participation in Make48. Be sure to note “Make48” in the “Where did you learn about the RTF?” section of your application.
