Any school or organization that works with students ages 12-22 that believes they can successfully facilitate the experience is eligible. A few examples that might help you understand what's possible: • An 8th grade elective course • High school engineering capstone students • Student organizations participating through their club (FFA, SkillsUSA, etc.) • Non-school organizations that serve children in this age range and meet regularly • A local homeschool coalition that is looking for STEM or business curriculum Contact us if you aren't sure, and we can help you make a smart decision.

Make48 matches up 4-5 schools/organizations with a single sponsoring organization for the first round of our tournament, which is based in classroom and includes structured, virtual engagement. We do our best to match schools up with other programs that have commonalities. For example: • Challenge #1 might have 4 FFA chapters tackling an agriculture problem • Challenge #2 might have 5 middle school engineering classes tackling a challenge for a utility company • Challenge #3 might have a mix of 5 middle and high schools from the same geographic region tackling a community-focused challenge. (Don't worry. Middle school kids are dangerously creative and are at no disadvantage here!) Sponsors may represent any industry or focus. We’ve worked with partners in construction, manufacturing, energy, banking, healthcare, technology, agriculture, and nonprofit sectors.

Make48 is always looking for great sponsors to help cover travel costs for winning student teams and their teacher. This includes four total individuals from the winning school, traveling over the weekend to participate in a live event for our television show. With sponsorship, Make48 will cover up to $3000 of travel costs - more than enough to cover most scenarios. However, we want to be up front that this cannot be guaranteed. In scenarios where Make48 is unable to secure sponsorship, schools will typically look to their local business community for support to attend this once-in-a-lifetime weekend experience. Schools, don't let this hold you back. There is almost always a solution, even if it isn't immediately clear.

Yes, to a degree. Sponsors are encouraged to choose interested schools off of our list to support. Sponsors can also nominate schools or organizations they already love to compete (e.g., their local high school), but it is often easier to convince the school to sign up on their own and funnel sponsorship through the school. If a sponsor nominates a school that isn't already on our list, we'll do our best to convince them to join our tournament (assuming we have an open spot), but we cannot force the school to join.
