In a celebration of innovation and agricultural ingenuity, Fishers Maker Playground is set to host another Make48 competition from May 3rd to May 5th, 2024. This event will bring together Indiana FFA chapters and agricultural industry leader Corteva Agriscience as the Challenge sponsor.
The Make48 Experience
Make48 is a thrilling national invention competition and documentary that challenges teams to dream up, design, and prototype a new product in only 48 hours. The event has gained significant recognition for its ability to foster creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills among participants. By collaborating with Tool Techs at a makerspace, teams are able to get their ideas from their heads into a physical prototype which levels the playing field for anyone to compete.
The Teams: Indiana FFA Chapters
The competition will see the participation of Indiana FFA chapters, a group of passionate and dedicated young individuals who are the future of American agriculture. The FFA is a renowned organization that empowers young people to become leaders in their communities, develop unique skills, and explore their potential in the world of agriculture.
“Indiana FFA is excited to team up with Corteva Agriscience and allow members from across the state to participate in the Make48 competition. This unique and innovative competition will allow our members to think outside the box and work together to develop a potential solution to a problem within the Agriculture industry. We look forward to seeing our members' creativity and ideas come to light through this event,” said Amanda Mullins, Assistant Director of Indiana FFA Career and Leadership Development.
The Challenge: Sponsored by Corteva Agriscience
This year, Corteva Agriscience, a global leader in the agricultural industry, will be back as the Challenge sponsor, bringing a wealth of expertise and resources. The challenge will reflect Corteva's commitment to advancing innovation in the field.
“Corteva Agriscience is thrilled to be collaborating with Make48 again to bring innovation in food and agriculture to more people. We are very excited to have FFA students and advisors join us this year. I can’t wait to see how these students approach the challenge, “ said Ronda Hamm, Global Academic Relations Leader.
The Fishers Maker Playground: A Hub of Innovation
Fishers Maker Playground, the venue for this year's Make48 competition, is a fitting backdrop for an event that celebrates innovation and creativity. This dynamic space is designed to inspire and facilitate collaboration among makers, creators, and inventors of all ages. We found the space a perfect venue for our 2022 competition in Indiana and are thrilled to return to the space since it’s equipped with state-of-the-art tools, resources, and a supportive community.
“Maker Playground and Fishers Parks had an amazing time hosting the 2022 Make48 Indianapolis challenge and can’t wait to be the host facility for the 2024 competition! Make48 is an action-packed competition that brings new faces to the facility and reflects the spirit of innovation in Fishers,” said Nick Snyder, Makerspace Manager.
The Make48 competition will unite the bright minds of Indiana FFA chapters with the support of Corteva Agriscience and our seasoned and talented Tool Techs. As we anticipate the innovations that will emerge, one thing is certain: the Make48 competition is set to leave a lasting mark on the agricultural landscape of Indiana and beyond.
