GoCreate Premiere Party | Wichita Winners Announced

Last weekend the 2021 GoCreate-Make48 event was aired on KSCW for the entire Wichita community's viewing pleasure.

To celebrate, the Kansas Department of Commerce hosted a premiere party at GoCreate to reunite with all those involved, watch the episode and tell stories from our memories of the June 2021 event.

We also introduced the crowd to our new Wichita Ambassador, David Marshall. David was a volunteer tool tech at our June event and we couldn't get enough of his infectious, upbeat attitude about making and his passion for his community. David will be the face of Make48 in the Wichita community, driving awareness to Make48's mission to empower all creators and innovators to use their community makerspace to collaborate on innovation.

Judges chose a winning prototype from the two person team Veni, Vidi, Vici! Rafael and Felipe came, saw and conquered at GoCreate for the Koch challenge. Their winning idea, the Drain N' Gain, met the challenge by solving the problem, staying within the ideal price point, providing a sales sheet and an outstanding video pitch. The challenge theme was Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship: Doing More with Less with Water Conservation around the home.

A second place team was also chosen. The SuperVaders: Bill, Jagger, Travis and Quentin. Both top teams will represent Wichita when they move onto Nationals next March with a chance to win $10,000.

We are grateful for the teams who participated in the first Make48 city series, the Tool Techs, volunteers, and mentors at GoCreate for sharing their state-of-the-art facility for 48+ hours! We enjoyed seeing everyone from the event again and the hospitality that Wichita shows us everytime we come to visit.

Thank you to our sponsors from around the greater community area including Koch Industries, Kansas Department of Commerce, Textron Aviation, Dondlinger Construction, Spirit Aerosystems, AT&T, T-Mobile, WSU and numerous other local companies who made this event possible.
