Wichita, KS (February 18, 2026) – Make48 is officially returning to the city where its "City Series" began. To celebrate the launch of Season 10, the premier prototyping competition is heading back to the "Air Capital of the World" to host the teams born from the first-ever Classroom Innovation Experience from March 20 to 22nd, 2026.
Tom Gray, CEO and Co-Founder of Make48, views this return to the Wichita State University (WSU) campus as a full-circle moment for the organization. “Returning to Wichita for our tenth season feels like a homecoming,” said Gray. “When we first brought Make48 to GoCreate, we were blown away by the city's unique density of 'doers' – from world-class aerospace engineers to the students and educators who are redefining innovation and entrepreneurship daily.”
This season's kickoff follows a highly successful nationwide "Classroom Challenge" tour. Between September 2 and November 14, 2025, students across the country worked to solve complex, real-world problems. The top teams from across the region have now secured their spots in the Wichita tournament this March. “These students didn’t just show up — they battled it out in their classrooms against peers and schools across the region to earn a spot in Wichita. Over the last semester, they refined their problem-solving process, tested ideas, and learned how to push through setbacks. Now this regional playoff decides who rises to the top and advances to Nationals, and we’re ready to see what they bring.” Sharrell Howard, Educational Experience Strategist at Make48 | The DeBruce Foundation.
The competition will ignite within GoCreate, a Koch Collaborative. This 18,000-square-foot premier makerspace offers a sophisticated playground for inventors, featuring dedicated studios for metal & woodworking; industrial-grade & digital fabrication tools; advanced 3D printing and laser cutting; electronics & textiles such as large-scale quilting, leatherwork, and direct-to-garment printing.
During the 48-hour sprint, teams will utilize expert Tool Techs and Mentors to transform their sketches into physical, working prototypes. The stakes are high: the first and second-place winners from the Wichita event will punch their tickets to the National Championship this fall. There, they will face a brand-new challenge and compete against the best teams in the country for the ultimate Season 10 title.
