Make48 + UW-Stout Sizzle Release!

The final Make48 regional event for 2024 unfolded at The University of Wisconsin-Stout, Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University. Eight exceptional teams gathered at the state-of-the-art FabLab to tackle the Derrick Building Solutions challenge, ‘Construction Safety.’ Each team, composed of two local (SkillsUSA) high school students and two UW-Stout students, embraced the challenge. The entire experience was captured and we have now unveiled the sizzle reel that captures the essence of this intense 48-hour event.

The heart of the competition lay in the creative talents of eight teams, hailing from different corners of Wisconsin. From the very inception of their ideas to the construction of prototypes, these teams had the unwavering support of their chaperones, mentors, and a dedicated team of tool techs who guided them through the grueling process. 

A local synergy of companies, organizations, and individuals, from Andersen Windows, Xcel Energy, OEM Fabricators, TTM Technologies, Presto, Rice Lake Weighing Systems, WI Workforce Development, GMDC, WCMP, Momentum West, Dunn County EDC, 3M, Valmet, Greater Beloit EDC, Stateline Manufacturing Assoc., Stateline Community Foundation, Beloit Memorial H.S., Racine Founders Rotary, Racine Community Foundation, United Way of Racine, Donald Kirby, Menomonie Tourism Bureau, and BioForward Wisconsin., lent their support, making the event even more significant.

The top winning team will represent their H.S. and UW-Stout on the national stage in Kansas City, MO at Nationals next month. With the support of UW-Stout leadership, local and National companies, tool techs, mentors, and volunteers, the teams rose to the challenge and delivered amazing ideas. As the winners prepare to be revealed, the event's sizzle video offers a glimpse into the intense creativity and dedication that characterized this remarkable competition.
