As the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference descends upon Atlanta, the energy is electric, especially for our local teams. This year, Georgia isn't just the host; it’s a powerhouse of innovation.
Two standout teams have emerged from the Make48 curriculum, ready to defend their home turf and show the nation that the "Peach State" is synonymous with "Maker State."

The "Nails for Breakfast" Crew: Colquitt County High School
Coming up from Moultrie, the team from Colquitt County High School is living proof that South Georgia grit is a real competitive advantage. Led by veteran instructor Robbie Pitts, the trio of Lily Hunt, Robert Kinsley, and Cameron Bozeman – aptly named "Nails for Breakfast" – is built for the grind.
Having mastered the Make48 curriculum, this team excels at rapid prototyping and disciplined problem-solving. They don’t just build; they iterate, refine, and execute with a level of toughness that matches their name. For Lily, Robert, and Cameron, the 48-hour clock isn't a threat, it’s an invitation to show what Colquitt County pride looks like in action.

The "Four-midable Force": DeKalb High School of Technology-South
Just a stone's throw from the heart of the competition, the Four-midable Force from DeKalb High School of Technology-South is ready to make their mark. Under the guidance of teacher La’Mar Young, students Dillan Job, Aubri Jones, and Freddrick Edwards are bringing a blend of technical expertise and high-energy collaboration to the floor.
The "Four-midable Force" represents the bright future of Atlanta’s technical workforce. Their journey through the Make48 curriculum has prepared them to draw inspiration from their community, use their deep technical knowledge and leverage each other’s unique strengths to create a product that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Defending the Home Turf
There is a special kind of pride that comes with competing in your home state. For both Colquitt County and DeKalb High School of Technology-South, the Atlanta stage offers a unique "home-field advantage." Friends, family, and the local community are all cheering as these students transition from the classroom to the high-stakes world of professional innovation.
Whether it’s the toughness of "Nails for Breakfast" or the technical synergy of the "Four-midable Force," Georgia’s makers are ready to prove that the host state is the one to beat.
Let’s hear it for our Georgia teams!
