Kansas City, MO, (July 10, 2025) - In a few hours, Make48 prepares to host its very first Women in STEM 48-hour competition at The Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI)! Young women from across the nation will converge to tackle a secret challenge under the inspiring theme of "The Great Escape." This groundbreaking event aims to empower young women in STEM, guiding them through the entire journey of bringing an idea from concept to market, and everything in between.

Teams Ready to Innovate
Seven diverse teams will embark on this fun-filled, learning-packed weekend. These mental giants, representing schools and organizations from Kansas City and beyond, are set to make their mark on Make48's decade-long history of innovation. Each team is proudly supported by its respective sponsors:

A Return to Our Roots with Expert Guidance
Make48 is thrilled to return to KCAI, the location where the competition first launched seasons 1 and 2. Teams will have access to the David T. Beals III Studio, a makerspace brimming with tools and an impressive lineup of Tool Techs, both returning favorites and new faces.
These experts, including Adam Kittrell (NLR Library), Tyler Isaacs (Wooden Whiskers Trading Co), Christina Santa Lucia (MakerBot), Luis Rodriguez (UltiMaker/MakerBot), Whitney Manney (Whitney Manney Designs), Brandy Aubé (Studio Aubé), Matt Rohr (Onshape), Miles Davis (MSD Woodworks), Tamela Carter (Healthy Blue Kansas), Angelica Sandoval (We Open Shop), Megan Pace (Central Shop), Clint Hanson (KCAI Instructor), Emily Loubser (KCAI Assistant Curator), Craig Fabin (Operation Breakthrough), and Michael Overstreet (Operation Breakthrough).
