It was a special Career Pathways event at The Delta School campus!
Make48 is a 48-hour competition where teams are presented with a challenge and tasked to build a physical prototype, create a sales sheet, produce a 1-minute marketing video and pitch their big idea to a panel of judges.
This coming March 2024, The Delta School will host teams comprised of area high school students for a regional Make 48 competition. With access to expert tool technicians and high-tech equipment, competing teams will have the power to build almost anything.
For this challenge, collaboration is the key to success. Many people have big ideas but few possess the resources to develop a prototype that turns them into reality. To build anything, different skills, materials and equipment must work together to create a final product. Make48 allows this process to be achieved with a fun, fast-paced, and educational event. First place team wins $2000.
The Delta School is actively engaged in cultivating the strengths of individual learners, nurturing healthy relationships, and exposing students to meaningful and purposeful work. The aim is to seed communities with leaders who will advance a thriving and connected future by modeling The Delta School on the premise of how real life works. In partnership with Make48, this 48-hour design competition will allow students within the Northeast Arkansas Delta Region to create meaningful work. The Delta School fulfills its mission by nurturing each student’s creativity, encouraging a sense of belonging, guiding students to discovery, and teaching the value of collaboration. This makes for the perfect collaboration with Make48. Students at The Delta School are taught within an environment structured to bring about innovation, wonder, courage, accountability, and empathy. The students aren’t just results-driven, but they are relationship-driven. Their word, grit, and ability to work together bring out their real potential as they tackle the challenges they are given.

Real obstacles require real problem-solving and real teamwork, which is always a part of the educational endeavors at The Delta School. They hope that each student is equipped not just with textbook information but also the ability to overcome obstacles and navigate life with compassion toward others and understanding of themselves. We can’t wait to see what Make48 and The Delta School unlock together with the incredible participants of Northeast Arkansas in March 2024.
