Kreg Tools Re-Signs With Make48

Make48 is glad to have this efficient woodworking company back for another year! Kreg is re-signing for another season, and playing a pivotal role in Make48’s future. In 2023, Kreg Tool will be used at every event and their equipment will be shared at the Ignition Lab Makerspace inside Operation Breakthrough. Their company has been a big supporter of Make48’s 2021-22 event competitions. The folks at Kreg are passionate about providing tools that give makers a sense of accomplishment with every project they complete, and will be there for them every step of the way.

Teams had to build an idea for animal wellness and transportation (T-Mobile challenge), and with only 2-days, the tool techs incorporated a number of solutions including the Kreg Tool.

Kreg not only offers products for woodworkers at every level, they also offer solutions that help build confidence in achieving the results woodworkers are aiming for. Kreg’s users range from the casual woodworker to the professional, and every level in between.

Craig Sommerfeld founded Kreg Tools when he decided to use his skills as a tool and die maker to solve a common woodworking problem: how to join wood quickly, durably and beautifully. The answer changed the way thousands of woodworkers join wood. After he asked himself, “How do you attach a face frame to a cabinet so the joint can be hidden from view,” he devised what would later come to be called “Craig’s Jig,” an ingenious metal guide, which allowed him to angle screws into hidden “pockets” for incredibly strong joinery with no exposed fasteners.

After obtaining a following at trade shows and the overwhelming approval of woodworkers the world over, Kreg Tool Company emerged as the industry leader in pocket hole technology. In 1990, the first patent was issued for the Kreg Jig and marked a significant milestone in the story of Kreg Tool. Pocket holes provided an easy solution to an everyday problem for woodworkers, and it did so with ease, strength and beauty.

Kreg Tool Company has been helping makers with innovative woodworking solutions for over 30 years. Tool Techs have loved working with the Iowan company, and we look forward to seeing more projects and builds being used with Kreg at Make48 competitions.
