What happens when you combine incredible teamwork, boundless creativity, and a passion for innovation? You get something truly remarkable, as demonstrated by The DBVI Puck (Deaf, Blind, & Visually Impaired) from the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired!

This exceptional team recently participated in the Make48 Innovation Experience, where they tackled the challenging Stadium Accessibility Challenge. Partnering with industry leaders like Kadeen Construction, Foreseeable Future, and KC Blind Spot, The DBVI Puck brought their unique perspectives and innovative solutions to the forefront, ultimately emerging victorious!
The experience was clearly impactful for the students. Jacoby Benally, a member of The DBVI Puck, shared his thoughts: "This was both challenging and fun at the same time. I never thought that I would do something like this. It’s good to know that my ideas matter." His words perfectly capture the spirit of Make48 – empowering students to see the tangible results of their creativity and problem-solving skills.
This incredible achievement wouldn't have been possible without the dedication and guidance of their teacher, Ms. Jerri Young. Her commitment to guiding and encouraging The DBVI Puck throughout this intensive experience truly made a difference.
The success of The DBVI Puck powerfully illustrates the potential unleashed when students are given the opportunity to build something real. It's a testament to their abilities and a shining example of what's possible when education embraces hands-on innovation.
