Local Highschools will go head to head at this Make48 for a very special competition!

Make48 is a 48-hour innovative invention competition where teams from various schools are presented a challenge and tasked to build a physical prototype, create a sales sheet, produce a 1-minute marketing video, and pitch their big idea to a panel of judges.

In June 2024, Des Moines Central Campus will host teams of students from various high schools for a Make48 competition. With access to expert tool technicians and high-tech equipment, competing teams will have the power to build almost anything to meet the presented challenge.

For this challenge, collaboration is the key to success. Many people have big ideas, but few possess the resources to develop a prototype that turns them into reality. To build anything, different skills, materials and equipment must work together to create a final product. Make48 allows this process to be achieved with a fun, fast-paced, and educational event. First place team wins $2000.

Central Campus offers unique Career and Technical Education opportunities for high school students across Central Iowa. Their mission is to ensure students possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to be successful at the next stage of their lives. Central Campus students engage in hands-on, real-world work-based educational programs earning high school and college credit and industry recognized credentials. One of their greatest strengths is increasing students “social capital” through career centered learning opportunities with local businesses and employers including paid work experience and apprenticeships in their chosen career path. Central Campus commits itself to providing equal access, through relevant academic and career training experiences for all students.
